Card 7: Data Security and Privacy

Storing data is useful, but it's also a big responsibility. We must keep it safe from unauthorized access and protect people's privacy. Think of it like protecting your valuables at home.

1. Authentication: Who Are You?

Story: Authentication is the process of verifying who you are. This is usually done with a username and password.

Analogy: To enter a secure government office in Vijayawada, you need to show your official ID card. The security guard authenticates you.

2. Authorization: What Can You Do?

Story: Authorization determines what an authenticated user is allowed to do.

Analogy: A guest visiting a mango farm is authorized to walk around the fields but is not authorized to enter the farmer's house. Different people have different levels of access.

3. Encryption: Scrambling Data

Story: Encryption is the process of converting data into a secret code to prevent unauthorized access.

Analogy: You write a letter to your friend in a secret language that only you two understand. Even if someone else finds the letter, they can't read it. That's encryption.

4. Data Privacy: Respecting Information

Story: Data privacy is about handling personal information responsibly and according to rules and laws.

Analogy: A doctor in a village clinic knows the health details of all patients but has a duty to keep that information private and not share it with others without permission.
